8+ Entry Tests

• How are the tests run?

  The tests will be taken on iPads provided by the School.

• Are the questions multiple choice?

  Many questions are multiple choice and are answered by clicking the correct answer from a selection. In the English test, certain questions require candidates to type individual words into boxes on screen. In the maths test, some questions may require candidates to type a numerical answer into a box.

• How much time are candidates given?

  Plenty of time is provided and there is no need for boys to be rapid typists. There are no questions requiring longer typed responses in any of the tests. As with paper tests used in previous years, we do not publish sample questions or a familiarisation test.

• Can my child practice for the tests?

  There are a number of third party providers of online reasoning, maths and English tests should you wish your son to practise answering questions on a computer, though we emphasise that no special practice or preparation is required.
