Welcome to Westminster
Westminster Under School is an independent preparatory school for boys aged 7 to13, in the heart of London. The school has a rich and distinguished history, dating back to 1943 when it was founded in Little Dean's Yard, just behind Westminster Abbey. Since 1981 the school has been situated on an outstanding site in Vincent Square, overlooking the Westminster School playing fields. The boys enjoy their time at school and are encouraged to think for themselves, to engage fully in discussion and to take pride in their own and their fellow pupils’ achievements. Entry to the school is by selective assessment at Year 3, 4 and 7. We have high academic standards, but we pride ourselves also on giving a full and rounded education and value the boys’ contributions in all areas of school life, including sport, music, art and drama.
With around 285 pupils, our staff build strong relationships with the boys, and our pastoral care is strong. Alongside academic excellence and a well-balanced education, we promote the idea of respect for others and of their responsibilities in an increasingly challenging world.
We hope this website will give you a flavour of life at Westminster Under School, but its warm atmosphere cannot be contained purely in words and pictures. Do contact us if you wish to find out more about the school.
