Celebrating a year of achievement, community and character
July 10, 2025

As the School gathered for Prize Giving, we reflected on a year marked by academic success, musical highlights, sporting milestones and a strong sense of community spirit.

Achievements this year have been many and varied, from national recognition to everyday acts of kindness, the term ended with a celebration not just of outcomes, but of character and contribution. Prize Giving offered a moment to acknowledge the effort, growth and leadership shown by pupils across the School.

Among the many individual highlights, Eli won gold at the IAPS Swimming Gala; Ethan became the world’s top-ranked Chess player in both the U9 and U10 categories; and Melvil was crowned the 2025 French National Junior U18 Single Wheelchair Champion. Several pupils secured top scholarships, including Smaran, Pranit and Alban to Westminster and James to Eton. Julius, Daniel, Michael, Franklin, Toby and Vihaan were awarded Music Scholarships and Exhibitions to Westminster.

The collective achievements have been equally inspiring. The School were winners of the London Prep Schools Football League, winners of the U13 IAPS Tennis, and retained the Geography Prep Schools Cup. Our historians once again claimed the top spot in the Townsend-Warner History Competition, with eight boys finishing in the top 30. The Chess Team made School history, placing 8th at the English Chess Federation Under 19 National Finals – the only prep school ever to do so.

In November, ISI inspectors praised the School’s rigorous curriculum, expert teaching and positive learning environment, noting “a culture of inclusivity and kindness that underpins the school’s values.” Preparations for co-education and expansion continue to take shape, with Chapter House well on its way to becoming the vibrant new home we envision.

The Summer Concert was another standout moment. Every piece was collaborative, beautifully performed, and the finale received a well-earned standing ovation.

In the end-of-year church address, Mrs Jefferson reflected on our first year as a Values Based Education School. She reminded pupils that influence often happens in the smallest of moments. Whether through empathy, curiosity, generosity or simple kindness. From Alban’s presentation on effective altruism and Adi’s tomato plant fundraiser, to the many pupils volunteering at Millbank or running stalls at the Summer Fair, there has been no shortage of action-led leadership this year.

Teachers and support staff have also been at the heart of this effort, from early morning swimming practices and endless fixture coordination to daily encouragement, pastoral care and unseen acts of support. As Mrs Jefferson said, “Community is not a place, but a practice. Each of us carries the power to influence, to uplift, and to build something good – not in grand, headline-making moments, but in the quiet daily choices that shape who we are.”

As we said goodbye to our Year 8 leavers, we did so with pride and gratitude. Whether they joined us recently or have been with us since Year 3, these young men have shown integrity, purpose and maturity throughout their time at the School. In their final year, they have mentored younger pupils, taken on responsibility and represented the School with calm leadership. They leave not only well prepared for the next stage, but ready to contribute meaningfully to the communities they join next. We wish them well, and look forward to all they will go on to achieve.

We now look ahead to the start of a new academic year, and to the continued preparation for full co-education in September 2026.
