Parents who wish to register their sons for entry in Year 3 (7+), Year 4 (8+) or Year 7 (11+) should complete the registration form which can be accessed online or by requesting a copy of our prospectus. We would prefer registration forms to be recieved approximately two years before the proposed date of entry, but the latest that registration forms can be accepted is the October half-term preceeding the proposed date of entry.
Registered candidates and their parents will be invited to one of our Open Days held during the Autumn Term when they will have an opportunity to look around the school, speak to boys and staff and put to the Master any questions they might have.
Entrance examinations for all age groups are held in January each year. Although our entrance examinations are designed to test potential, we also expect the candidates to be achieving good standards at their current schools.
Parents often ask whether their son would be able to cope with entrance examinations at Westminster Under School and it is difficult to give an answer which is appropriate to all, but if a boy is working well at his current school and his teachers feel that he would be suited to an academic preparatory school, then parents should certainly register their son. The papers are not designed to "catch out" anyone and we aim to make the examination day an informal occasion. Many boys tell us afterwards that they actually enjoy the day!
