Applying to Westminster Under School
Parents who wish to register their sons for entry in Year Three (7+), Year Four (8+) or Year Seven (11+) should complete a registration form which may be obtained here, or by telephoning the school on 020 7821 5788. We would prefer registration forms to be received approximately two years before the proposed date of entry, but the latest that registration forms can be accepted is the October half-term preceding the proposed date of entry.
Registered candidates and their parents will be invited to one of the Open Mornings held during the autumn term when they will have an opportunity to look around the school, speak to boys and staff and put to the Master any questions they might have.
Entrance examinations for all age groups are held in January each year. Although our entrance examinations are designed to test potential, we also expect the candidates to be achieving good standards at their current schools.
Parents often ask whether their son would be able to cope with the entrance examinations at Westminster Under School and it is difficult to give an answer which is appropriate to all, but if a boy is working well at his current school and his teachers feel that he would be suited to an academic preparatory school, then parents are very welcome to register their son. The papers are not designed to “catch out” anyone and we aim to make the examination day an informal occasion. Many boys tell us afterwards that they actually enjoyed the day.
