Sport

At WUS we aim to give our pupils a taste of as wide a range of sports and activities as possible, so that they may pursue at least one into later life. Participation is important and we aim to develop the boys' knowledge, skills and understanding, so that they can perform with increasing competence and confidence in a variety of physical activities. Sport at WUS is also about working effectively as part of a group or team and promoting positive attitudes towards a healthy lifestyle. At the elite end, able boys are well catered for: the 1st Soccer team has reached the IAPS National Finals for the past two years in a row and the 1st XI cricket team have only lost twice in two years. There is also an annual Cricket and Soccer tour for 1st XI boys.

All boys enjoy two Games sessions, one Physical Education lesson and a Swimming lesson (Years 3-7) per week. As the boys become older they have a choice as to which sport they chose each term. The school uses a number of specialist coaches to deliver the programme alongside a very keen body of permanent staff, who love to help on the games field.

We run major school teams in Football (1st - 9th XI's), Cricket, Rugby, Hockey, Basketball, Tennis, Swimming, and Cross-Country. There is also a thriving Inter-House sports competition in which all of the boys are encouraged to take part.
