The transition from a primary school or pre-prep school to a larger prep school can be rather daunting for young boys. It is our aim to ensure that the Reception Years boys feel secure and valued and are settled and comfortable with school routines.
Boys in the Reception Years are taught English, Maths, Science, History and Geography by their form teachers in their classrooms. The boys receive specialist teaching for French, Art, Design, Music, IT, Physical Education, RS and Games. Some of these classes are taught outside the classroom, for example in the Music and Art and Design rooms.
Central to all our teaching is the belief that we want the boys to become life-long learners and challenge them to think and discover for themselves. We aim to foster and encourage the natural sense of wonder and curiosity that boys of this age have. For this reason we design our curriculum to allow boys freedom for independent thinking and with the flexibility to explore topical issues.
